Colic

Colic is a nonspecific diagnosis of excessive crying and the criteria to meet this diagnosis are crying more than three hours a day, at least three days a week, for at least three weeks. Because the cause of excessive crying needs to be determined and there can be many, checking in with your family doctor, pediatrician, or naturopath can help to narrow down the underlying cause of colic.

When other investigations have not led to solutions, a spinal assessment by a chiropractor can yield excellent results. Though babies are squishy and flexible, they can still have spinal tension and restriction which cause pain. This pain can be felt constantly or in specific positions, but the way to communicate discomfort is crying. When the spinal restrictions and muscle tension are eased, you can see immediate reduction in your infant’s distress.
