Mid-back Pain

Pain between the shoulder blades tends to develop in the third trimester and becomes a predominant symptom once baby is born. This is because of the dramatic increase in strain from carrying and nursing them, and even with treatment it can be a persistent problem owing to the necessity of putting yourself in the positions that aggravate the pain.

Clinically, post-partum mid-back pain is improved with myofascial release in the arms and chest as the front of the arms and the chest muscles are used more post-partum and directly add strain to the mid-back region. Stretches and exercises performed at home continually reduce mid-back strain in the post-partum period.
